Hadar Goldin, a Lieutenant in the Givati Brigade of the IDF, was a Jewish patriot, humanitarian and artist, and only 23 years old when he was killed on August 1, 2014 by Hamas terrorists.
Hadar was a remarkably gifted young man, a happy and lively person with an easy and winning smile. He was an accomplished painter and graphic artist who addressed both secular and religious themes in his art. Hadar was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a “people-person,” and he firmly believed and preached the importance of sharing joy and friendship among all people. Together with his twin-brother Tzur, they embroidered on the belts of their rifles the words Strength & Humility in an effort to define the characteristics of a Jewish fighter, who has the courage to use his weapon when needed, but also has the humility to restrain from its use in the service of peace.
Cantor Avraham Fried sings the prayer Adarabah, written by Rebbe Elemelech of Lezhensk
Hadar’s favorite prayer for peace and understanding of all people, Adarabah written by Rebbe Elemelech of Lezhensk.
And may we each speak with our fellow in an upright and pleasing manner before You,
May no hatred enter our hearts for our fellow, God forbid,
And strengthen us in love for You, as is open and known to You,
That everything may be pleasing to You. Amen, so it may it be Your will.
